| Bandera Architecture is a full service design firm. The firm's practice is based on the Southeastern coast of North Carolina in the historic city of Southport. Although much of the firm's work has been in the coastal area of the state, Mr. Bandera received his architectural training and was commissioned on earlier projects in Boston’s diverse neighborhoods, where he previously practiced. This experience provided him with the sensitivity needed to make any home or building enhance its surroundings – be it a 21st century oceanfront residence to a historic townhouse on an 18th century cobblestone street. Richard Bandera has been practicing architecture for nearly twenty-five years and, since 1996, the principal of Bandera Architecture. Mr. Bandera is a member of the National Council of Architectural Registration Board (NCARB) with licenses to practice in North Carolina and Massachusetts. The firm also aspires to make many of it's projects as environmentally friendly as possible, and designated by the Green Building Certification Institute (GBCI) as the firm's LEED Accredited Professional. His experience includes the preparation of design plans, specifications, and construction documents; analysis of building and zoning codes; and presentation to zoning, planning and historic commissions. His residential projects have ranged from a 500 sq. ft. bedroom addition to a 23-unit artist condominium complex. Commercial projects include kitchen showroom renovations, professional office buildings, and private club facilities. For community development organizations, he has prepared planning strategies to assess area deficiencies. |
