Cape Fear Yacht Club
The Clubhouse designed for the yacht club received
the
Boston Society of Architects Director's Citation for
Collaborative Design.

This citation is a particularly fitting recognition of the hard work
and long hours spent by the club's building committee. Club
members Elizabeth Hardin, interior designer, and Buddy Barnes of
Wildwood Landscape Contracting, Ltd. also provided their
services to the club for this project. The members who donated
materials to complete this project, who attended fundraising
socials to pay for special items, and who spent their free time
painting, building furniture, and watering the plants should feel
proud that their efforts are acknowledged and appreciated
beyond the general club membership. Congratulations to all!

The design of the building was tailored to the needs of a club with
a limited budget. With large and small, formal and informal
functions, flexibility was the name of the game. The clubhouse
features two main rooms; one with a bar and kitchen, the other
larger with high ceilings. These are separated by a long central
gallery open to the outdoors. Custom garage doors in each
function room can be opened to create one large gathering space.
